主讲人简介:Jiyuan Tao,博士,美国马里兰洛约拉大学(Loyola University Maryland)数学与统计系教授。毕业于美国马里兰大学, 巴尔的摩(University of Maryland,Baltimore County)应用数学专业。主要研究兴趣:应用分析、有限维优化和欧几里德若当代数。研究成果发表在Mathematical Programming, Mathematics of Operations Research(最优化领域的顶尖杂志),Optimization Methods and Software, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, Journal of Global Optimization, Linear and Multilinear Algebra和Linear Algebra and its Applications等国际权威杂志。

讲座内容简介:In the past two decades, the symmetric cone programming which includes linear programming, second order cone programming, and semidefinite programming has been a hot topic in the optimization society. Since the symmetric cone arises from the Euclidean Jordan algebra, studying Euclidean Jordan algebra has attracted many researchers. Recently, some researchers have extended the properties
of the real symmetric matrices and the complex Hermitian matrices to the setting of Euclidean Jordan algebras. In this talk, we present some generalizations of some famous inequalities in matrix theory such as Thompson inequality and Araki-Lieb-Thiring inequality to the Euclidean Jordan algebras.

为进一步推进学院国际合作与交流工作,更好地服务学校国际化和人才强校战略,数理与统计学院邀请美国马里兰洛约拉大学(Loyola University Maryland)的Jiyuan Tao教授于8月5日通过腾讯会议在线为学院师生作了题为“Some Inequalities Involving Majorization and Traces in Euclidean Jordan Algebras”的学术报告。报告会由学院副院长王国强教授主持。

Tao教授首先简要回顾了Craig–Sakamoto定理在统计学中的应用以及国内外的相关研究进展。其次,他介绍了欧几里德若当代数上的若干重要不等式。接着,他重点讲解了矩阵正态分布和威沙特分布中的线性和二次型随机向量的独立性。最后,Tao教授就Craig–Sakamoto定理和欧几里德若当代数理论在统计学中的应用提出了自己的一些独到观点和看法,并于参会教师和研究生进行了的热烈讨论。
